Mexican restaurant Gracias Madre, which specializes in ‘organic, plant-based’ cuisine in West Hollywood, and Café Gratitude, an organic gourmet cuisine restaurant in Newport Beach, are branching out to include cannabis-infused cocktails.
While Jason Eisner isn’t the first bartender to experiment with cannabis infusing, he is changing things up a bit by using organic CBD oil purchased from San Diego. As long as you’re of legal drinking age you can order the drinks with no medical marijuana card required when you visit Gracias Madre or Gratitude.
The three cocktails available are:
Stoney Negroni (Gracias Madre and Gratitude)
This cocktail follows the standard for a Negroni: equal parts Amaro, gin and vermouth. Eisner breaks tradition by swapping Campari for Contratto Aperitvo—this swap lowers the ABV but gives a familiar bittersweet flavor. Also included is a spoon of port (for a balance of flavors) as well as the CBD tincture. A Stoney Negroni will set you back $20.
Rolled Fashioned (Gracias Madre)
A Rolled Fashioned is a play on the traditional Old-Fashioned. The cocktail contains mezcal añejo-bourbon, sarsaparilla syrup and CBD oil. It also contains a pinch of cinnamon and comes garnished with a vegan churro, which comes in a dime bag clothes-pinned to the glass. The cocktail is priced at $20.
Sour T-iesel (Gracias Madre and Gratitude)
The Sour T-iesel is a riff on a Tequila Sour. It’s comprised of:
- Agave nectar
- Aquafaba (a vegan egg white substitute)
- CBD oil
- Lime juice
- Mint and sage leaves
- Pinch of salt
- Tequila blanco
These ingredients are blended with a handheld emulsifier, strained into a glass and topped with a stencil of matcha green tea leaf. This concoction is also $20.
Cheers!
